ROSS KEMPS INTERVIEW STYLES
Today we watched a Ross Kemp documentary about gangs and this specific episode looked at gangs and the paramilitary in Columbia. It was one of the first documentaries that I've watched that used many different type of interviews.
Firstly, he interviewed someone while walking which was very interesting as it showed the surroundings that he was in and it was more interesting than just being sat down in a room talking to him. Secondly, he was interviewed in his car and again it was more interesting than being sat down and it also made you feel in the thick of the action as if you are sat in the passenger seat. This is also important in this type of documentary as he's going into a dangerous surrounding and he's trying to uncover a big question about the paramilitary, so the fact that the camera stays with him the whole time, it makes it feel like you are following him. I think with this type of documentary it could have the potential to bee boring as his evidence came from interviews but the fact he mixed up his locations and type of interview made it more appealing.
I will definitely look at trying out interviews in the coming week as I think its a hard skill to master but once perfected will be really useful when it comes to filming.
