ANALYSIS OF HORROR TITLES
In horror the colours of the posters tend to very dark and dull colours like different greys, blacks and blues. These colours are usually associated with fear which is all about what the horror genre is about. The actual names of the films are usually short names even one-word names are common, like ‘jigsaw’ and ‘hush’. These words are often short and powerful as they don’t give too much away but are very memorable. The font often implicates that it’s a horror genre. Fear and dread are not the only feelings horror typography can evoke. It helps us get a feel of what the film is going to be like as well. From the typography and film poster we need to be able to get a feeling that this film is worth the watch as it has to engage us and want to make us actually watch the film therefore it’s a very important aspect.
